The Christmas Story as introduced by Matthew seems like the opposite of Good News as he highlights the embarrassing, scandalous members of Jesus' lineage. Yet we discover it shows how good the news truly is because of what it means for us, no matter what our background.

Jesus said, "My power is perfected in weakness." Your area of weakness is where the Holy Spirit wants to show up in a big way!

Religion is our attempt to work our way in good with God. That somehow, following all the rules gets me in with God. But if rules are the route to God, we are in big trouble because nobody can agree on the rules! And besides, whatever the rules are, we all know we fall short.

Before you answer "somewhere in the middle," today's message will challenge you to get off the fence. Because how we see our sin directly impacts how much we love Jesus.

You were created and brought into this world by the creator of the Universe with a calling and purpose for your life. But if we're honest, even if that's true, we're not that interested. We just want heaven on earth and heaven when we die. Don't we?

If we think about all the things that concern and worry us most, the root of it tends to come down to our focus being on our personal survival in maximum peace, pleasure, comfort and style. Yet, we never seem to be able to achieve it once and for all. Jesus offers us an alternative that will ultimately help us achieve what our heart most desires.
