When it comes to family, the only thing we all have in common is: conflict. Family conflict is like no other because when you win an argument in your family, you don’t really win anything. The conflict is never fully resolved. What if there was a way to resolve family conflict by dealing with it at its source?

In his letter to the Ephesians, the apostle Paul drew from Jesus’ use of power what is perhaps the most powerful relational teaching of all—an instruction that changes everything in family dynamics. It all comes down to asking a simple question that can change every relationship for the better.

In the Book of Revelation, Jesus addresses and evaluates some local churches. He identifies what they’re doing good and what they need to work on…and he warns them about what will happen if they don't get their act together as a local church. It’s a warning with implications for us as well.

For all of us "good" people who aren't running from God, we need to ask ourselves a question - if we believe we have surrendered to God's purposes in our lives, have we also surrendered to God's purposes in the world?

Being disciplined is never fun. But sometimes it's only after a season of brokenness that we begin to see life more clearly. Is that why God disciplines us? Not to pay us back, but because He actually loves us?
